At the Elmshorner Market, directly in the heart of the town stands the St. Nikolai church.

Demonstrative at Elmshorn's pulse
The church was built in the 14th-century. The building rises imposingly high between the lower buildings, which stand around the Elmhorner marketplace.

Piece by piece
The nave was extended by the south building in the year 1733. Later a tower construction followed in the year 1881. The altar stems from 1660. It is three-winged and depicts different Christian motifs in the form of pictures.
